F1: 8-bit Season Review 2016
This was one of my first major motion graphics and animation projects, and it remains one of my favorites to this day.
For me, it marked an early turning point in Formula 1’s evolution, from what it was in 2016 to the dynamic global brand it is today. At the time, I was fortunate to persuade those around me to take a risk on something bold and unconventional, breaking away from the norm.
I illustrated and animated the entire sequence myself, working closely with producers to craft an alternative take on the traditional season review that was both engaging and informative.
The final piece was featured on the Top Gear website, among others, and was met with an overwhelmingly positive response. My favourite quote being ‘As unnerving as it might be to find that someone in F1 actually has a sense of humour, we hope it’s the beginning of something wonderful.’ I think it actually was the beginning of something wonderfull after all…
